- Offline, at our Dhanmondi center. Grammar is explained in Bangla so nothing is lost, and the practice is in Japanese.

- Certificate
- The JLPT certificate is issued by the Japan Foundation and JEES when you pass the exam, not by us — we prepare you for it and help you register. You also get a Discovery course completion certificate.
About this course
N3 is the bridge. Below it, Japanese is a classroom subject; above it, it is a language you work in. This is where you stop learning sentences and start learning how Japanese people actually say things — honorific and humble speech, the passive and causative, the vocabulary of a workplace. It is also the level at which the language stops being the thing that limits what you can apply for.
Who this course is for
Students who have finished N4 and want to work in Japan, not only study there. Anyone whose plan involves talking to Japanese colleagues, customers or landlords.

Honorific and humble speech, and reading which one a situation wants.

Including the causative-passive, and what it signals socially.

Complex sentences
Relative clauses, nominalisation, and longer written structures.

Workplace and daily-life vocabulary
The language of an office, a clinic, a city ward office and a part-time job.

Kanji
Around six hundred and fifty characters cumulatively.

Reading
Short articles and notices, read for gist as well as for detail.

Listening
Natural-speed conversation and short announcements.
The exam
N3 in the JLPT's own words is the ability to understand Japanese used in everyday situations to a certain degree: to read writings with specific content concerning everyday topics and to grasp summary information such as newspaper headlines, and to follow coherent conversations in everyday situations spoken at near-natural speed. The JLPT (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) is a listening-and-reading test — there is no speaking or writing paper — and it is normally held twice a year, in July and December, with registration closing months before the sitting. We will tell you the current date and the registration deadline, and we help our students register. Ask us before you plan a batch around a particular sitting.

Questions about this course
No. The course is useful on its own, and many students take it to be able to live and work in Japan rather than to collect a certificate. If you do want the exam, tell us early so we can time your batch against a sitting.
